Surgical oncologist appointment (gastrointestinal cancers)
Look for appointment timesA surgical oncologist is a medical specialist who focuses on the surgical treatment of malignant tumors in the gastrointestinal tract.
This includes cancers of the stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, liver, bile ducts, gallbladder and pancreas. With a subspecialty in oncology, the surgical oncologist is qualified to assess the disease comprehensively and advise on both surgical and chemotherapy treatment options.
During the consultation, the surgical oncologist evaluates the patient’s condition, determines the extent of the disease, reviews all available test results and imaging, and creates a personalized treatment plan, including the need and scope of surgical intervention. If necessary, other specialists—such as a gastroenterologist or radiologist—may be involved in the decision-making process.
We recommend consulting a surgical oncologist in the following cases:
- Diagnosed or suspected malignant tumor in the gastrointestinal tract (e.g., colorectal, gastric, or pancreatic cancer).
- Lesions or abnormalities found during previous examinations (e.g., colonoscopy, CT scan, MRI) in GI organs.
- Benign or malignant tumors in the liver or bile ducts.
- Need for a second opinion before surgery or following an initial diagnosis.
We accept patients from the age of 18.
