Children’s mental health

A child’s mental health is a state of physical and mental wellbeing that enables them to go through important developmental stages, acquire essential life skills and reach physical, mental and social maturity.

The concept of mental health includes mental health problems, including psychological disorders, in addition to wellbeing. Both hereditary and environmental factors, including continuous stressful life events, play an important part in the development of mental disorders. The relationships surrounding the child, especially their relationships with their parents, are also significant. Addressing children’s mental health problems therefore requires cooperation between as many adults in their life as possible.

Child psychiatry focuses on diagnosing psychiatric disorders and planning interventions. This is usually done by a team of children’s psychiatry specialists working together. Our team includes a child’s psychiatrist, a clinical child’s psychologist, a child’s neuropsychologist, a family therapist and a speech therapist.

Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) evaluation for adults – QbTest

Look for appointment times

The QbTest is an objective way to measure the three main symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – hyperactivity, attention deficit and impulsivity – in children, adolescents and adults.

The need to take the test is decided by the mental health specialist dealing with you (psychiatrist, psychologist, mental health nurse).

The test alone is not sufficient to answer the question of whether ADHD is present, the test system is used to support the diagnosis and to determine the response to treatment and the progress of treatment. The test answers are in English and for medical use, the test results are interpreted by a specialist trained for this purpose.

The test is administered by a mental health nurse. The interpretation of the test results is not included in the price of the testing, for this please book an appointment with a psychiatrist. If necessary, the mental health nurse will provide information about further activities related to ATH diagnostics.

For subjects who are not receiving treatment at the Confido Mental Health Center, we will issue the test results via e-mail within seven working days.

The duration of the test is 45 minutes and can be used in the age range of 6-60 years.

Important to know before testing:

  • Come to the test rested
  • Eat and drink enough
  • Please remove all jewelry
  • Please wear clothing that does not have shiny/sparkling elements
  • Do not use substances beforehand that could affect your ability to concentrate, if it is still necessary or if you have done so, inform the person conducting the test
  • If you have been referred for a Qb test to assess the effectiveness of an ATH medication you are already taking, take the prescribed medication at the usual time
  • Inform the person conducting the test about the medications you are taking and also about other substances that may affect your ability to concentrate

Interpretation of test results is not included in the price of testing.
