Breast augmentation with implants, also known as breast augmentation surgery, is a surgical procedure aimed at increasing breast volume and improving breast shape and proportions. The surgery can create a fuller and more symmetrical breast shape and restore breast volume that may have decreased due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or age-related changes.

During the surgery, breast implants are placed. Their size, shape, and type are selected individually based on the patient’s wishes, body proportions, and breast anatomy. The most suitable surgical technique and implants are selected by the plastic surgeon together with the patient during the consultation.

In addition to increasing breast volume, breast augmentation can also correct breast asymmetry to a certain extent and improve breast proportions. If there is significant breast sagging or drooping, implants alone may not provide the desired result, and breast augmentation may need to be combined with a breast lift.

The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and usually takes up to two hours. During the recovery period, a special supportive bra should be worn, and strenuous physical activity and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks. Initial recovery usually takes one to two weeks, while the final breast shape develops gradually over several months.

Breast implants can change the size and shape of the breasts, but the outcome of the surgery depends on the patient’s individual anatomy, skin elasticity, the selected implants, and the desired result.
