Headache Centre

A headache is the most common nervous system disorder. Approximately 50% of adults have headaches throughout the year and most of them are mitigated without going to a doctor. However, headaches can be so severe or frequent that they cause significant disruptions to daily activities.

Neurology nurse consultation (headache)

With a doctor’s order, the neurology nurse consults and monitors patients with neurological disorders and diseases (e.g. headache) throughout their treatment course. Patients complaining about headaches are monitored and consulted by a specialist headache nurse.

They explain the nature of the illness to the patient during the appointment. In addition, the patient is educated about the disease, how to take medication and how to keep a headache diary. The neurology nurse monitors the use of medications and informs the patient about potential side effects.

Appointments financed by the Health Insurance Fund can be booked by calling 1330 or visiting the National e-Booking System. A neurologist’s referral is required to register for an appointment.

Please be sure to fill out the headache questionnaire before the visit – so the nurse can get to know the causes and nature of your headache in advance.
