Analyses, examinations, procedures

Humans are exposed to thousands of pathogens every day. The immune system is continuously working to protect us against them, and its activity goes unnoticed. Vaccination helps the body’s immune system recognise and combat threats.

Vaccination results in the development of immunity similar to that of an infectious disease. This means that the human body is able to eradicate harmful micro-organisms before they multiply en mass when later exposed to the disease. This is how vaccination prevents the spread of infections.

The need for vaccination depends on a number of factors:

  • which infectious diseases the person has already had
  • which vaccinations they have already had
  • what their work-related risks are
  • whether there are dangerous disease outbreaks in Estonia
  • where they plan to travel in the near future

For any questions about vaccinations, please contact your Confido family doctor or general practitioner, who will arrange new vaccinations for you, if needed.

Vaccination against the flu

Look for appointment times

The flu vaccine protects effectively against influenza. The flu is an acute viral infection that usually spreads through droplets released by sneezing or coughing. The disease is extremely dangerous for infants, young children, the elderly and people with chronic diseases.

We recommend that both adults and children starting from 6 months of age get vaccinated every autumn against seasonal flu outbreaks.

All vaccinations done at Confido are recorded in your vaccination passport, which we ask you to take with you when you come to get vaccinated. If necessary, we will issue a new vaccination passport for an additional fee (€10).

For the 2024/2025 season, the following groups are eligible for free flu vaccinations under the national immunisation programme:

  • children aged 6 months to 7 years (inclusive)
  • children over 7 years old who are at risk due to medical conditions (such as heart and vascular disease, oncological disease, immunodeficiency, diabetes or obstructive lung disease)
  • pregnant women
  • people aged 60 and over
  • people receiving general or special care services or community living services
  • People in high-risk groups are not compensated for the cost of the vaccine or the fees for its administration.

A nasal flu vaccine will also be available for children from the second half of October 2024. This is a paid vaccine, not covered by the national system.
