Vaccination against rabies (upon ordering vaccine)

Rabies is an acute infectious disease of humans with acute central nervous system damage that can affect both animals and humans. The disease is caused by a rabies virus that damages the central nervous system. The source of infection is an infected animal. Symptoms of the disease may include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, fever and periodic respiratory distress known as ‘gasping’. Once symptoms appear, the disease is not treatable and always ends in the death of the infected animal or person.

Pre-exposure vaccination is recommended for individuals at high risk of contracting the rabies virus. Pre-exposure prevention of rabies in high-risk groups consists of three doses administered within 21-28 days.

All vaccinations done at Confido are recorded in your vaccination passport, which we ask you to take with you when you come to get vaccinated. If necessary, we will issue a new vaccination passport for an additional fee (€10).

PLEASE NOTE! If there is even the slightest possibility of being infected with the rabies virus, immediate vaccination should be administered under medical supervision.
