Warts are viral, bumpy, spongy skin formations with an uneven, dense surface, in the center of which you can see small black dots – tiny blood vessels that are thrombosed. Warts can appear all over the body, face, and genitals, but most often they are located on the feet or hands. Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Corns are thickenings of the stratum corneum of the foot that extends deeper into the dermis. Corns can be located on the heels, soles, and toes. Pressure on the wart can cause pain. They arise from long-term pressure or friction on the foot – to protect the skin, the skin cells begin to intensively produce keratin, and as a result, skin thickening or corns are formed.

There are several over-the-counter solutions and patches for treatment, but generally, the most effective method is liquid nitrogen freezing (3-6 procedures every 1-3 weeks, sometimes more) and laser removal (usually 1 procedure) is more effective. The laser beam removes the skin formation completely without leaving a scar or it is less arousing. Sometimes formations on the skin can start to grow back over time and require repeated procedures.

How are warts and corns removed with a laser?

The laser procedure is painless – a numbing injection is used in the area where the formation will be removed. A laser treatment doctor directs a laser beam at the formation, which vaporizes it without damaging the surrounding skin. Bleeding does not occur because the blood vessels are closed with a laser beam during the procedure. It is possible to precisely control the depth of contact and remove only the tissue of the skin formation.

After removal, a crust forms on the skin, which disappears over time. After the procedure, the removal site is treated again with an antiseptic, and a patch is applied.

Contraindications

• Contraindications for laser removal of skin formations are determined by the laser treatment doctor during the pre-procedure consultation.
• Tell your doctor if you have blood clotting problems, epilepsy, cancer, keloid scars, allergies, etc.
• The procedure is not performed on persons under the age of 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
• The procedure is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What to consider before and after the procedure?

The laser removal of corns and warts can be performed without prior consultation with a doctor. If necessary, the doctor of laser treatment can give the recommendation to consult a dermatologist before performing the laser procedure.

• 2 weeks before the procedure, avoid sunbathing (including going to the solarium).
• After the procedure of laser removal of skin formations, a crust forms on the skin. Follow the remedies recommended by the Confido specialist. The scabs will come off naturally over the next 7-10 days, do not remove them yourself. Avoid getting the treated area wet for 1 day.
• Avoid sauna and spa for 2 weeks after the procedure.
• 2 weeks after the procedure, avoid sunbathing (including going to the solarium).
• It should be kept in mind that each recovery is individual.
