Laser tattoo and permanent makeup removal
Look for appointment timesLaser tattoo and permanent makeup removal is a medical procedure that allows you to get tattoos and permanent makeup removed either partially or completely. If you are unhappy with your tattoo or permanent makeup, or if the tone or shape of its pigment has changed over time, this procedure can restore the original appearance. We remove unwanted tattoos of almost any colour and permanent makeup on lips, eyebrows and eyelids.
After tattooing, the removal procedure can be carried out a minimum of eight weeks later, once the skin has recovered, but we expect you to come to a consultation sooner.
How does laser tattoo and permanent makeup removal work?
The laser beam only affects the colour of the strictly defined tattoo, removing only the pigment without damaging the skin. The microscopic colour particles formed during the lasering process are naturally eliminated from the body by the lymphatic system. As a result, the tattoo becomes increasingly lighter.
During the procedure, special air cooling is used to reduce pain and side effects. For permanent makeup removal from the eyelid area, we use special sterile scleral lenses that protect the eyes from laser exposure.
The recommended session of treatment is between 2 and 9 treatments at 8-week intervals, depending on your metabolic rate, the characteristics of your body, the skin area and the condition of the tattoo or permanent makeup. If the tattoo application technique has been faulty or it has left scars or failed at another clinic, it may take more than nine treatments to remove the tattoo completely.
What are the contraindications?
- Active phase of herpes
- Active inflammations
- Acute infections
- Fresh tan (less than two weeks before the treatment)
- Propensity to keloid scars
- Cancerous tumours
- Epilepsy
- The procedure is not carried out during antibiotic treatment (at least two weeks must have passed since the end of treatment).
- The procedure is not performed during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.
- For children under the age of 18, the procedure is only performed with the consent of a parent or guardian.
Contraindications are relative and the final decision about the procedure is made by the laser specialist during the personal examination and consultation before the procedure.
What should you take into consideration before and after the procedure?
- Before the procedure, you will have a personal consultation with a Confido laser specialist.
- Avoid sun tanning (including solarium) and using self-tanning products for at least two weeks before and three to four weeks after the procedure.
- There must be a gap of at least two weeks between other procedures performed in the area to be treated (chemical peels, other laser treatments, etc.).
- Redness, swelling and sensitivity may occur on the skin after the removal procedure, which is a normal reaction and will pass on its own. After the procedure, the skin can be cooled with a cold pack.
- Avoid saunas, baths and swimming for the first few days after the procedure as well as strenuous exercise involving sweating and mechanical friction of the treated area.
We have been removing tattoos with laser since 2002 and the procedures are performed only by highly qualified medical professionals. Laser tattoo and permanent makeup removal has been used for decades worldwide and is proven to be effective.
We recommend that you start the tattoo and permanent makeup removal procedure with an initial consultation, during which a specialist will assess your health, the condition and size of the tattoo, the depth of the ink, the presence of skin micro-scars and other important parameters that affect the course of the treatment and will determine the price of the procedure.
