Epididymal or testicular appendage cyst removal
See available time slotsAn epididymal or testicular appendage cyst is a benign fluid-filled formation. It is a clearly defined fluid collection in the epididymis, typically in the head of the epididymis. Cysts can come in two forms. Some are associated with the male reproductive system and contain sperm. Others, which are rare, are not connected to the reproductive system and contain only fluid. The development or enlargement of an epididymal cyst is typically associated with an increase in pressure in the male reproductive system, which causes an outpouching in a relatively weaker area of the reproductive tract. An epididymal cyst may only cause discomfort during its formation period, as surrounding tissues react to the pressure caused by the cyst. It is usually an incidental finding in men and does not cause any physical symptoms or health risks.
Epididymal cyst removal surgery
During the epididymal cyst removal surgery, your surgeon will make an incision in the scrotum above the cyst. The cyst will be separated from the surrounding tissue and removed. The skin incision will be closed with self-dissolving sutures. The procedure usually takes 15-20 minutes and can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. After the procedure, you may wear tighter-fitting underwear to reduce mobility and pain in the operated area.
