Thinning of the vaginal mucosa and decreased elasticity are normal physiological changes associated with ageing, which over time may lead to everyday discomfort such as dryness, itching, burning or tingling sensations, and frequently also pain during vaginal intercourse.

Vaginal laser therapy with MonaLisa Touch® is a new treatment option that supports evidence-based therapies aimed at restoring vaginal mucosal hydration, elasticity and normal pH (e.g. local hormone therapy, moisturising agents, pelvic floor muscle training, etc.). The procedure is performed with the DEKA MonaLisa Touch® laser. During the procedure, laser beams are delivered through a special probe inserted into the vagina and act on the vaginal mucosa to a depth of 4-6 mm. The laser treatment is generally well tolerated, painless and does not require anaesthesia.

Vaginal laser treatment cannot be performed:

• during pregnancy
• within the first 3 months after childbirth
• in the presence of an acute untreated genital infection
• in the presence of a precancerous cervical condition or during its treatment.

The gynaecologist will determine the exact indications and contraindications at the pre-procedure consultation.
