Laser removal of warts and corns

Look for appointment times

Warts are viral, bumpy, spongy skin formations with an uneven, dense surface, in the center of which you can see small black dots – tiny blood vessels that are thrombosed. Warts can appear all over the body, face, and genitals, but most often they are located on the feet or hands. Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Corns are thickenings of the stratum corneum of the foot that extends deeper into the dermis. Corns can be located on the heels, soles, and toes. Pressure on the wart can cause pain. They arise from long-term pressure or friction on the foot – to protect the skin, the skin cells begin to intensively produce keratin, and as a result, skin thickening or corns are formed.

One of the treatment methods is the removal of warts and corns with a laser. The laser beam removes the skin formation completely without leaving a scar or it is less arousing. Usually, a single procedure is needed to remove the skin lesion, but sometimes formations on the skin can start to grow back over time and require repeated procedures.

How are warts and corns removed with a laser?

Before the laser procedure, a numbing injection is used in the area where the growth will be removed. The injection may cause pain, but the laser procedure passes through the numbed area. A laser treatment doctor directs a laser beam at the formation, which vaporizes it without damaging the surrounding skin. It is possible to precisely control the depth of contact and remove only the tissue of the skin formation. After removal, a wound remains on the skin that requires home care.

Contraindications

  • Active skin disease and inflammation in the area of the procedure, including active phase herpes.
  • Tell your doctor if you have blood clotting problems, epilepsy, cancer, keloid scars, allergies, etc.
  • The procedure is not performed on persons under the age of 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
  • The procedure is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What to consider before and after the procedure?

The laser removal of corns and warts can be performed without prior consultation with a doctor. If necessary, the doctor of laser treatment can give the recommendation to consult a dermatologist before performing the laser procedure.

  • After laser removal of skin lesions, a wound will form on the skin, which may in rare cases bleed after the procedure. Healing may require a more relaxed regime, especially in the leg area. Follow the remedies recommended by the Confido specialist. The crust that form on the wound will come off naturally over the next 7-10 days, do not remove them yourself.
  • Avoid getting the treated area wet for 1 day.
  • Avoid sauna and spa for 2 weeks after the procedure.

It should be kept in mind that each recovery is individual. Sometimes formations on the skin can start to grow back over time and require repeated procedures.
