Abdominoplasty, also known as tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure in which excess skin and fat are removed from the abdominal area and the muscles of the abdominal wall are tightened to achieve a smoother and more toned appearance.

During the abdominoplasty procedure, a horizontal incision is made in the bikini area. Then, the skin and fat are separated from the abdominal muscles and excess tissue is removed. If the abdominal muscles are loose, they are tightened during the procedure to achieve a more toned and smoother abdominal area.

After the surgery, a special bandage or compression garment is applied to the abdominal area to provide support and reduce swelling. Recovery can take several weeks to several months, depending on each patient’s individual characteristics and the extent of the procedure.

Abdominoplasty can help get rid of abdominal fat that does not respond to exercise or diet. It also helps eliminate excess sagging skin. Therefore, tummy tuck surgery may be suitable after pregnancy or significant weight loss.
