Endovenous Laser Coagulation

Endovenous laser coagulation is a medical procedure used for the treatment of varicose veins. This method is a modern and minimally invasive way to remove varicose veins. During the procedure, a special laser beam is used and directed directly into the affected vein.

Endovenous laser coagulation works as follows: Firstly, local anesthesia is injected into the vein to prevent pain. Then, a small catheter (tube) is inserted into the vein and carefully guided along the vein to the site of the varicose vein. Once the catheter is in the correct position, the laser beam is directed into the vein, and it heats up the vein wall, causing it to contract and close. This procedure helps completely close the damaged vein, and its gradual breakdown is absorbed by the body.

Endovenous laser coagulation is an effective method for treating varicose veins, as it allows the vein to be sealed with minimal scarring and complications. This technique is typically used for cases where the varicose veins are of moderate size and are located in deeper veins. After the procedure, it is recommended to wear compression stockings to support vein healing and reduce swelling.
