Removal of paraproctitis and fistulas
Look for appointment timesParaproctitis and fistulas are diseases associated with inflammation of the tissues around the anus. They can be very painful and uncomfortable and can impair the patient’s quality of life. Treatment of paraproctitis and fistulas often involves surgical intervention.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and safety. Before the surgery, it is important to follow the doctor’s instructions and recommendations. Be sure to inform your doctor of any health problems and medications you are taking. During the surgery, the surgeon makes an incision in the area near the anus to open the fistula and/or the abscess cavity of the paraproctitis. Then the damaged tissue is removed and the wound is cleaned and sutured. Sometimes a drain tube is placed in the wound to prevent the accumulation of fluid and to speed up the healing process.
