Removal of a deep neck lymph node
Look for appointment timesA neck dissection is a surgery to remove lymph nodes from the neck. Removal of deep cervical lymph nodes may be necessary when deep lymph nodes in the neck need to be removed. Lymph nodes are part of the lymphatic system, which is a crucial component of the immune system and helps the body fight infections and diseases. Deep cervical lymph nodes in the neck can become enlarged or inflamed for various reasons, such as infections or tumors. Lymph node removal or neck dissection may be necessary for tumor removal or for diagnostic purposes to gather more information about the condition of the lymph nodes, such as evaluating the spread of tumors and planning further treatment accordingly. The surgery to remove lymph nodes is performed under general anesthesia. After the operation, mild pain and swelling in the neck area may occur. After the surgery, it is important to follow the instructions given by the treating physician and any prescribed treatment plan. The need for surgery will be determined by your treating physician.
