Analysis packages

The Cystitis Testing Package is designed for the rapid assessment of urinary tract inflammation, to determine whether treatment is needed, and to initiate appropriate treatment.  The service is intended for adults experiencing symptoms typical of cystitis.

Symptoms of cystitis include: 

• frequent or urgent need to urinate 
• burning or pain when urinating 
• discomfort or pain in the lower abdomen 
• blood in the urine 

The service includes 

• urine dipstick test 
• if necessary, aerobic urine culture 
• interpretation of test results at the Confido Digital Clinic 
• if necessary, prescription of antibiotic treatment 

Important to know 

Antibiotic treatment for cystitis is prescribed only when medically indicated, based on symptoms and test results. If your symptoms suggest a more complicated urinary tract infection or another health condition, a healthcare professional will refer you for additional tests or a doctor’s appointment if necessary. 

Urine sample 

A urine sample can be collected at home beforehand or provided on-site at a Confido clinic. Urine samples collected at home must be brought in a special single-use urine specimen container, available from pharmacies. Samples brought in other containers will not be accepted, as these may affect the quality of the sample and the reliability of the test results.
If it is not possible to bring the urine sample to the clinic immediately, it can be stored in a refrigerator at +2 to +8 °C for up to 12 hours.
For providing a urine sample on-site, a single-use specimen container can be obtained from a Confido clinic if needed.
