Urine drug test
A urine drug test aka substance abuse panel allows to detect six most commonly used narcotic and psychotropic substances in the body. It is an initial screening test used to assess whether the urine contains substances such as cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or cannabinoids.
The substance abuse panel detects following substances:
Cocaine
After a single use, cocaine can usually be detected in urine for 1-3 days; with long-term use, detection may be possible for a longer period.
Amphetamines and their derivatives, such as methamphetamine and MDMA (ecstasy)
Amphetamines are generally detectable in urine for up to 48 hours after use.
Opiates
Depending on the substance, opiates are usually detectable in urine for 1-3 days.
Benzodiazepines
Different benzodiazepines remain detectable in urine for varying lengths of time.
Barbiturates
Short-acting barbiturates are generally detectable in urine for up to 4 days, while long-acting barbiturates may remain detectable longer.
Cannabinoids
After a single use, cannabinoids may be detectable in urine for up to 5 days; with regular use, they may remain detectable for significantly longer.
The drug test result is qualitative: a positive result means that the substance concentration exceeds the test detection level, while a negative result means that the substance concentration is below the detectable level. The analysis does not indicate the amount of the substance used, frequency of use, or level of intoxication. The results cannot be used for legal purposes.
Laboratory analyses are performed by our partner Synlab.
Results for the panel are available within five working days.
