Balance and fall risk assessment

Look for appointment times

The ability to maintain balance is important for everyday activities, physical activities and reducing the risk of fall-related injuries. Good balance control, motor coordination and quick reflexes allow for healthier and more confident movement.

In winter, especially for the elderly and people with mobility difficulties, the risk of falling outdoors increases. Therefore, the ability to maintain balance is important, especially in the winter period, to reduce the risk of accidents.

The ability to maintain balance is also one of the most important skills in sports, which helps athletes achieve better results and prevent injuries. For example, in sports that involve rapid movement, changes of direction or jumping, maintaining balance is essential to avoid falls and inaccuracies of movement.

Balance is assessed using the Desmotec balance platform, patented in rehabilitation and sports culture as one of the most detailed tools for evaluating static and dynamic balance and body awareness, or proprioception.

During the initial visit, the ability to maintain static and dynamic balance in various positions is assessed based on individual needs and goals. The assessment is carried out by a physiotherapist, who during the visit measures and provides an overview of the cause of the balance disorder and future recommendations for improving balance. During a follow-up visit, dynamics are assessed and data is compared. If necessary, a physiotherapist consultation will be scheduled, where a strategic plan will be developed for future balance improvement or achievement of related goals.

In the case of athletes, it is also possible to assess the body’s weight distribution ability in real time, the ability to maintain static and dynamic balance, body awareness during static and dynamic exercises and activities, the reactive force index and the duration of neuromuscular fatigue.
