Dr Toomas Marandi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tartu with a degree in medicine in 1993, acquired a PhD in 1999, completed his residency in cardiology in 2002 and a residency in clinical pharmacology in 2002. Since 2002, Dr Marandi has been working at the North Estonia Medical Centre. Dr Marandi has been an active member of the Estonian Society of Cardiology since 2001, National Treatment Guidelines Coordinator at the European Society of Cardiology since 2008, President of the Society from 2009-2011 and Head of the Acute Coronary Syndromes Working Group since 2011. His special interest is the treatment of patients suffering from myocardial infarction from the onset of their illness up until the post-hospitalisation period in cooperation with various specialties, as well as the introduction of pharmacotherapy of cardiovascular diseases and modern e-solutions into everyday practice in order to achieve the best treatment results, for research and to ensure compliance with quality standards.
