Psychologist Lauri Pihkva has been working with adults struggling with various addiction disorders since graduating from university in 2006. He has helped develop and implement therapy programmes for alcohol, tobacco, and drug addiction, and has been providing support to people with addiction problems in both individual and group settings for 18 years.
Lauri does not believe in the effectiveness of fear-based tactics or rigid rules and prohibitions, instead, he believes in each person’s own ability to improve their life and focuses on developing and supporting this capacity.
Lauri is also interested in the topic of managing negative emotions, coping with stress, and preventing burnout. He has conducted anger and stress management courses for military officers and for inmates and staff within the prison system.

Lauri is a certified Mindfulness trainer. He has completed basic training as a sexual counsellor and introductory training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and is currently participating in family therapy training. Lauri is a member of the Estonian Association for Family Therapy and the Estonian Sexual Health Association.
