Dr. Kaia Tammiksaar graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu in 1996 and completed her residency in endocrinology in 2004. Prior to entering residency, she worked as a general practitioner in Tallinn.
Endocrinology had been close to Dr. Tammiksaar’s heart through personal experience even before she began her medical studies, so choosing this specialty was not difficult.
From 2004 to 2025, Dr. Tammiksaar worked as an endocrinologist at Tartu University Hospital. Alongside her clinical work, she serves as a lecturer at the University of Tartu, where she teaches fourth-year medical students and acts as the general supervisor of the endocrinology residency program.
Dr. Tammiksaar has contributed to the development of Estonian clinical treatment guidelines and has continued her professional education at conferences both in Estonia and abroad. She is a member of the Estonian Endocrinology Society and the European Society of Endocrinology.
Dr. Tammiksaar believes that good cooperation between patient and physician is founded on mutual honesty and trust.
