Dr Ülo Zirel graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu in 1981 and completed his internship in surgery in 1982. He worked in the Artificial Kidney and Urology Departments at Tartu Maarjamõisa Hospital until 1999. Since then, he has been working as a urologist at the North Estonia Medical Centre.
Dr Zirel is a member of the Estonian Urological Society and the European Association of Urology. He has undertaken further training in endourology and prosthetic surgery at several leading centres across Europe.
His main areas of interest include reconstructive and oncological surgery as well as endourology.
