Dr. Terje Matsalu graduated from the University of Tartu in 2012. She then continued her studies at the Institute of Pharmacology at the University of Tartu as a doctoral student, researching the neuroepigenetics of drug addiction. During her studies, she realized that she wanted to pursue clinical neurology and began her residency in neurology in 2013.
As a neurologist, Dr. Matsalu’s main areas of interest are memory disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. Her interest in this field developed during her medical studies, when she worked as a second-year student in the nursing care department and came into contact with patients with dementia.
Working primarily at East Tallinn Central Hospital, Dr. Matsalu has extensive practical experience and broad knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of other neurological diseases. She sees patients with various neurological complaints, including headaches, tremors (shaking hands), muscle weakness, muscle twitching, tingling and/or changes in sensitivity in the hands or feet, and balance disorders.
Dr. Matsalu also consults with patients who have already been diagnosed with a neurological disease and wish to consult with a neurologist.
