Circumcisio or circumcision surgery
See available time slotsPhimosis is a narrowing of the foreskin, in which the foreskin does not move either partially or completely over the head of the penis, or glans. The main complaints are a painful movement of the foreskin over the head of the penis, pain in the foreskin during erection, or foreskin inflammations related to constriction, and urinary obstruction. The foreskin should be movable over the head of the penis from the age of 4.
Phimosis can be either congenital or developed as a result of inflammation of the urinary tract and foreskin during life. As a result of inflammation, the foreskin becomes scarred, thickens, becomes immobile, and in more severe cases, it can grow attached to the head of the penis. A less common disease of the foreskin is paraphimosis or the ring of the foreskin. In paraphimosis, the narrow foreskin is stuck behind the glans and this causes painful swelling of the glans. Circumcisio, or circumcision surgery, is indicated for both phimosis and paraphimosis.
Because the operation is painful, it is usually performed under general anesthesia, but it is also possible to operate under local anesthesia. In this case, a local anesthetic solution is injected into and under the foreskin. During the operation, the entire foreskin is removed from the circle with a scalpel and the wound is sutured.
