Package for sexually transmitted infections

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are diseases which can be transmitted via sexual contact. Many STIs have no symptoms. People often carry and transmit pathogens (bacteria, viral particles, fungi, parasites) without knowing. In general, STIs can be divided into infections which cause genital lesions (syphilis, genital herpes), infections which cause genital inflammation (chlamydiosis, trichomoniasis, gonorrhoea, etc.), and infections which cause systemic symptoms (HIV infection) or disorders of the internal organs (hepatitis B).

It is a good idea to get yourself tested if you have no symptoms but have had unprotected intercourse or have nagging suspicions if only to restore your peace of mind. Any symptoms attributable to an STI should be cause for immediate testing. Standard test packages are not enough if you suspect an STI.

We suggest not urinating 4-6 hours before coming in for testing, women can be tested only before or after menses.

The package includes consultation with a doctor, gynaecological examination for women, and tests.

  • If your sexual partner has been diagnosed with an STI.

  • A mid-stream urine must be deposited directly into the sterile container. Pouring from one container to another is not permitted.
  • Urine samples can be given at our clinic. We provide the necessary container.

Prostate examination

Prostate-related disorders are very common. Therefore men of all ages, especially middle aged men, should undergo regular prostate examinations to detect any risk factors as early as possible. Please register for a consultation with an urologist to discuss and to determine any necessary tests or analyses (prostate ultrasound, urine and blood tests, and PSA test). Test and examination results are explained by our experienced urologists Dr Toomas Tamm or internationally acknowledged Dr Aare Mehik. The doctor will also recommend actions to prevent worsening of any issues.

In addition to the price of a consultation, any examinations or tests will be charged additionally.

Prostate ultrasonography

Transrectal ultrasonography of the prostate is important for middle aged and older men to specify the volume, shape, and structure of the prostate and diagnose any tumorous lesions.

Ultrasonography is performed by the Confido’s urologists Dr Toomas Tamm and Dr Aare Mehik in the course of examination. The price of the exam is 35 euros.

Transrectal ultrasonography of the prostate

  • For transrectal ultrasonography of the prostate, a special transducer is inserted into the rectum. Lubricating gel is applied and this procedure is usually painless.
  • It is important to lie still and try to relax during the examination.
  • It is important to void your bowels in the morning before examination, but you can eat and drink as usual.

Good to know

  • We recommend that you do not have sex or use vaginally administered medication during 24 hours before the PAP test.
  • PAP test can not be performed during menstruation.
  • PAP test should be performed at least every 3-5 years.
  • The first PAP test should be performed at the age of 21.

PAP test

PAP test is an assay for the early detection of cervical cancer and pre-cancerous changes. PAP test is performed with samples taken from the cervix using a special brush or spatula during a gynaecological examination. Sampling may be a bit uncomfortable, but it is very quick.

For PAP testing, make an appointment with one of our GPs who perform gynaecological examinations, or our gynaecologist.

Price of the test 18 €

Prostate specific antigen (PSA) test

One of the methods for early detection of increased prostate cancer risk is blood testing for prostate specific antigen (PSA). PSA is a protein produced in prostate tissue, the blood concentration of which is normally very low, but increases in the case of benign enlargement of the prostate, and especially in the case of prostate tumors.

PSA testing is used for early detection of prostate cancer risk, and for determining treatment efficacy. Make an appointment with one of our GPs or urologist for PSA testing.

Cost of the test 15 €

Who do we recommend it for and how is it performed?

  • Men should undergo annual PSA testing from the age of 50.
  • If anyone in your immediate family has had prostate or breast cancer, you should start tests as early as 45.
  • PSA testing is performed on a blood sample.
  • Test results arrive within a few days.

Determining hereditary predisposition for breast and ovarian cancer

Breast cancer is the most frequently occurring malignant tumour in women. Early detection is the most important factor in being able to treat the disease effectively and to be able to clarify the risk factors involved. The main risk factors involved with breast cancer are gender, age and hereditary predisposition. 5-10% of breast cancers and 10% of ovarian cancer cases are hereditary.

A venous blood sample must be taken for a gene test. You may consult with one of our doctors or specialists for advice. The fee for the blood test is added to the consultation price.

  • The genetic test is carried out to analyse the 2 key gene mutations. The results will be available within 3-5 weeks.
  • We also offer a genetic test to analyse 33 genes. The results will be available within 7-9 weeks.

We recommend the test if:

  • There is a family history of breast and ovarian cancer
  • There is a family history of one person having both breast and ovarian cancer at the same time
  • The disease has been diagnosed before 50 years old, or one close family member was diagnosed with breast cancer before 50 years old
  • Close relatives have been diagnosed with a predisposition for the breast and ovarian cancer gene mutation
  • A close relative has been diagnosed with breast cancer in both breasts
  • A close male relative has presented with breast cancer

DNA testing for determining paternity and biological ancestry

A paternity test allows to identify the biological parent. The test compares the DNA of the possible father with the child’s DNA. DNA testing of the mother is not mandatory, but increases the reliability of the results.

When confirming paternity for a child’s biological father, the test is 99.9% conclusive. To exclude a possible father, the test is 100% conclusive. The test can also determine connections between grandparents and grandchildren and between siblings.

The test is performed by taking a DNA sample from the mouth, by scrapping the inside of the cheek with a special cotton swab. Consult with our geneticist for this test. Results will be available within 10 days and they will be sent to the email address that you have provided the clinic with.
