Tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme disease can mainly spread to people through ticks. If the tick-borne encephalitis virus can enter the human bloodstream from a tick at the time of the bite, the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which causes Lyme disease, multiplies in the salivary glands of the tick and is transmitted to humans after the bite. It takes a minimum of 17-24 hours to get an infection, but transmission is more likely to occur in 36-48 hours. Thus, rapid removal of the tick significantly reduces the risk of contracting Lyme disease. You can get vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis.

During the reception, the nurse removes the tick, takes care of the wound area, and explains what to do next, what the signs of danger are, and when it is time to come for check-ups.
