Dr Eret Jaanson General Practicioner

Dr Eret Jaanson has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu (1998), followed by residency in family medicine (2002).

Every year, Eret attends various refresher courses and conferences; she has been part of the working group for the preparation of several treatment guides and provides training courses for nurses and GPs. In addition, Eret has studied the Tan Wu Bian method at the Chinese Medicine Clinic called Health Academy and completed the Acunova acupuncture training (2015).

As a general practitioner, Dr Jaanson is the primary adviser for all health issues for people of all ages, but working with children is the closest to her heart.

Dr Iris Koort General Practicioner

Dr Iris Koort has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu (1988) and completed family medicine courses.(1997). In addition, she is actively attending European and global general practitioner congresses and children’s infections, diabetes and women’s health conferences. Iris is especially interested in infectious diseases and vaccination and has attended several international conferences on infections. She is also a member of the immunoprofylaxis committee of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Dr Koort has been dealing with the health problems of patients of various ages and nationalities in Estonia and Finland for years. As a doctor, she values empathy and intuition, loves challenges and enjoys finding a solution to the complex health problems of a patient who has been suffering for a long time.

Dr Kristi Otsmaa General Practicioner

Dr Kristi Otsmaa has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu (1996) and completed residency in family medicine (2001). She is constantly developing herself professionally by attending seminars and conferences both in Estonia and abroad. Kristi has completed trainings in the Tan Wu Bian method and the Acunova method. Kristi Otsmaa’s latest academic degree is from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tartu (2006).

Dr Otsmaa is a member of both Estonian and Tallinn Associations of GPs. Recently, Kristi has become interested in Oriental medicine and also, questions related to medical law and medical ethics. She enjoys the diversity of the job of a general practitioner. A GP is addressed with a variety of health problems, so both sickness prevention and treatment can be practiced by dealing with the entire person.

Dr Eve Kivistik General Practicioner

Dr Eve Kivistik has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu (1995) and completed refresher courses for general practitioners (2002). In addition, Eve has completed a kinesio taping training course (2014) and an acupuncture training in the Tan Wu Bian method and Acunova method at the Chinese Medicine Clinic (2015).

Eve is a member of both Estonian and Tallinn Associations of General Practitioners.

As a general practitioner, Dr Kivistik is there for all patients to find the right solution in the complex medical system. By evaluating the patient’s lifestyle, heredity and other risk factors, the doctor helps find the right direction for preventing diseases and improving the patient’s lifestyle. The most enjoyable form of cooperation for her between a doctor and a patient is when the doctor is able to motivate the patient to actively work towards preserving and improving their health.

Dr Marko Ölluk General Practitioner

Dr Marko Ölluk has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu (1993), followed by studies to become a general practitioner (2012), and is currently enrolled in the family medicine residency programme at the University of Tartu.

Marko is a member of the Estonian and Tallinn Associations of General Practitioners and of the Estonian Medical Association.

Dr Ölluk considers it essential that high-quality medical aid is available in primary care where the patient undergoes initial tests and the reasons for their ailments are explained. A doctor’s ability to give a patient an adequate and comprehensible assessment of their health and the course of any further treatment is no less important.

Dr Tiit Kivistik Vascular surgeon

Dr Tiit Kivistik has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu (1995), completed residency in general surgery (2002) and residency in cardiovascular surgery (2005). The doctor highly values professional development, which is why he attends vascular surgery and endovascular training programmes at multiple centres in Europe each year.

Tiit has also completed training additional courses in the Doppler ultrasound study for peripheral blood vessels and is a vascular surgeon certified by the Estonian Medical Association. Dr Kivistik is a member of the Estonian Society for Vascular Surgery and the European Society for Vascular Surgery.

The doctor is specialized in cardiac and vascular surgery, but takes appointments as a vascular surgeon. In his career as a surgeon, he has performed more than three thousand surgeries.

Dr Ailen Aluri Gynaecologist

Dr Ailen Aluri has graduated from the specialty of medical treatment (2000) and the specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology (2007) in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu. Every year, Ailen attends international gynaecology and obstetrics or infertility treatment conferences.

Ailen is a member of the Estonian Medical Association, Estonian Gynaecologists’ Society and the Baltic Fertility Society. Dr Aluri has been a lecturer at Tallinn Health Care College in the Chair of Midwifery for years and has been employed as a gynaecologist at major hospitals.

As a gynaecologist, Dr Aluri assists women from puberty to menopause, offering help and knowledge in examining and solving health problems in the fields of obstetrics, infertility and gynaecology.

Dr Urve Pappa Gynaecologist

Dr Urve Pappa has graduated from the faculty of medicine at the University of Tartu (1987) and specialised in obstetrics and gynaecology (1989).

Urve believes in life-long learning and therefore takes part in yearly courses through Estonian Gynaecologists’ Society, Estonian Colposcopy Society, and the University of Tartu, and also attends at yearly GKS training days in Helsinki. In addition, Dr Pappa has attended conferences and seminars by Estonian Perinatology Society, Society of Sexually Transmitted Infections, Estonian Neurologists’ Society and Estonian Human Genetics Society.

The doctor is a member of Estonian Gynaecologists’ Society, Estonian Colposcopy Society, and Finnish Society of Surgical Gynaecology.

As a gynaecologist, Dr Pappa works with women from birth until old age. Often she has several patients at a time – the pregnant woman and fetus or fetuses. Dr Kahro Tall Neurosurgeon

Dr Kahro Tall has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine (1999) and completed residency in neurosurgery (2004) at the University of Tartu. For years, Kahro has been developing himself professionally at the training courses organised by the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies and is a member of the Society of Neurologists and Neurosurgeons.

In his everyday work as a neurosurgeon, the doctor primarily resolves problems related to back and leg/foot pain, but his special interests include brain tumors, nerve disorders related to tingling in hands and feet, and Morton’s neuroma.

Dr Tall performs 350–450 surgeries and consults nearly two thousand patients a year.

Dr Toomas Toomsoo Neurologist

Dr Toomas Toomsoo has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine (1996) and completed residency in neurology (2001) at the University of Tartu and is enrolled in the doctoral programmes in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Tartu and at the University of Tübingen Institute for Clinical Brain Research (Germany).

In addition, Dr Toomsoo has a certificate in transcranial sonography, for the execution of neurovascular ultrasound (carotid arteries, cerebral arteries) and for using ultrasound to assess carpal tunnel syndrome.

The doctor is a member of several professional organisations such as the Estonian Society of Neurologists and Neurosurgeons, the Estonian Headache Society, etc. As a neurologist, Dr Toomsoo helps people troubled by all kinds of neurological problems, but his special professional interests are headaches and Parkinson’s disease. His goal as a doctor is to diagnose the illness and find the best treatment method or help the patient understand that he or she has no neurological illness.

Prof Margus Viigimaa Cardiac health doctor, cardiologist

Prof Margus Viigimaa has graduated from the University of Tartu with honours (1982) and from the Kaunas Medical Institute (1989), has received additional training at Kyoto University in Japan and earned the title of Doctor of Medicine at the University of Tartu in 1994. Margus has refreshed his professional knowledge in various places across the world: Japan, Russia, Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom.

In addition to the position of a cardiologist and cardiac health doctor at Confido, Professor Viigimaa is the Chief Doctor and Head of Research at the Heart Health Centre of North Estonia Medical Centre and the Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Technomedicum at Tallinn University of Technology.

As a cardiac doctor, the Professor treats all cardiac diseases, but his deeper interest lies in hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. Professor Viigimaa’s true calling lies in the prevention of heart diseases and in finding the best individual solutions for each patient.

Dr Tiina Uuetoa Cardiologist

Dr Tiina Uuetoa has graduated from the specialty of medical treatment in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu (1990) as well as doctoral studies in medical science with excellent results (1997), followed by residency in cardiology (2001).

Tiina is a member of the Estonian Society of Hypertension and the Estonian Society of Cardiology and is the head of the heart failure working group.

As a cardiologist, Dr Tiina Uuetoa helps assess the risk of heart diseases and diagnose and treat complex diseases.

Dr Sirje Masik Cardiologist

Dr Sirje Masik has graduated from the faculty of medicine at University of Tartu (1984), did her internship at Võru County Hospital (1986), and completed her residency in cardiology (1992). Every year the doctor attends international cardiology conferences in Europe and America.

Sirje is a member of the Estonian Medical Association, Estonian and European society of cardiology and Estonian society of hypertension.

Dr Laane is steering the Twinning Program of the World Federation of Hemophilia in cooperation with Helsinki University Hospital.

As a urologist, Dr Tamm treats urinary and reproductive system disorders, also surgically. Docent Aare Mehik Urologist, surgeon

Docent Aare Mehik has graduated from the faculty of medicine at the University of Tartu (1977), specialised in urology at the University of Oulu (1992), received his doctorate of medicine in 2001 and also a docent of urology (2014). The doctor has taken numerous further classes and seminars in urology and surgery over the decades.He has received several prestigious professional awards for developing the field and adding to existing scientific literature. In 2017, Dr Mehik was awarded with The urologist of the year title in Finland.

Aare is part of Finnish Doctors’ Association, Finnish Urologists’ Association, European Urologists’ Association, and is an honorary member of Royal Society of Medicine.

Docent Mehik is mostly interested in bladder, prostate, and kidney problems and also in the reconstructive surgical options among urological oncology patients.

Dr Erve Sõõru Somnologist-pulmonologist

Dr Erve Sõõru has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu (1993), completed residency in pulmnology (2002), has been awarded a professional somnologist certificate by the European Sleep Research Society (2013) and is a European sleep medicine expert. In addition, she is a doctoral student of health care technology at Tallinn University of Technology. Erve is a member of several professional organisations and the founder and president of the Estonian Sleep Medicine Association.

Dr Sõõru has updated her professional knowledge extensively in various places across the world. Since the early years at the university already, she has worked at major hospitals in Tartu and Tallinn as a sleep doctor and pulmonologist and has repeatedly participated in clinical trials as a researcher. The doctor is particularly interested in sleep breathing disorders and their diagnostics and treatment as the study of a person’s sleep may reveal first signs of a serious illness.

Dr Ene Miller Otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat specialist)

Dr Ene Miller has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine (1986) and from the specialty of ear, nose and throat diseases (1988) at the University of Tartu. Rene’s first degree is from Tallinn Pedagogical University.

Additionally, Rene has run several lectures on Traditional Chinese Medicine and written books (“Smart Way to Health” and “Alchemy of Health”).

Dr. Bürkland is certain that there are several options to treat any illness or health problem. In his daily work he uses a blend of Western and Chinese medicine. He believes that integrated medicine is the medicine of the future, where modern advancements of cutting-edge technology and ancient beliefs from Eastern medicine complement each other.

Dr Tiia Liivalaid Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Dr. Tiia Liivalaid has graduated from the faculty of medicine at the University of Tartu (1988) as a pediatrician and then specialised in family medicine (2000). Additionally Dr Liivalaid has studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (2011-2013).

Every year the doctor takes part in several courses for family physicians and also partakes in Traditional Chinese Medicine courses. Tiia is part of the Association of Estonian Family Physicians.

Dr. Gerly Truuväärt has graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic (2007) with BSc in general science and Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Additionally, Dr. Truuväärt has studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (2002) and graduated from Chicago School of Clinical Massage Therapy (2000).

At the moment, Dr. Truuväärt is studying functional neurology at Carrick Institute of Functional Neurology. She is part of Estonian and European Chiropractic Association, World Federation of Chiropractic, and International Association of Functional Neurology and Rehabilitation.

Gerly believes that life-long learning is important and thus often takes part in relevant seminars and trainings, and she has in-depth knowledge about children’s attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, nutrition, and assessing infants and toddlers.

Dr. Truuväärt is an expert in functional neurology. As a doctor of chiropractic, her interests are in pregnancy, postnatal care, and supporting the development of children. She believes in offering high-quality and personalised chiropractic therapy similar to what is offered throughout the world.

Margus Laurik Clinical psychologist

Margus Laurik has graduated from the specialty of psychology at Tallinn University (2008) and earned a Master’s degree in counselling psychology (2010). Margus Laurik is a certified clinical psychologist. He highly values professional development, has completed a course in cognitive-behavioural therapy (2011–2013) and attends various professional seminars and training courses every year. In addition, he is a member of the Union of Estonian Psychologists, Estonian Association for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the Estonian Sexual Health Association.

Katrin Hallik has finished a national course of experience counselling at Avitus centre. Katrin received her first degree from Tallinn University.

Helle has published several scientific journal articles about the motor development of premature babies. She is part of the Association of Estonian Physiotherapists.

Margit Savitski Assistant

Margit Savitski has graduated from the specialty of swimming in the Faculty of Exercise and Sport Sciences at the University of Tartu. After graduation, Margit worked for years as a swimming instructor for children and then went on to work in private entrepreneurship as an office manager in Estonia and Georgia. Before Confido, Margit helped launch the studio Tasapisitasakaal which is aimed at keeping the body and mind invigorated, and attended to the customers.

Margit is an extremely warm, caring and sincere person who is often the first contact for the customers with Confido when advising them on the phone. The customers praise her as a highly empathetic, kind and caring person who is always ready to listen to the customers’ problems, delve into the topic and offer a good solution.

For the last six years Kersti has worked as a personal assistant at Kiropraktika Stuudio with doctors of chiropractic, Dr. Gerly Truuväärt and Dr. Karl Pärjamäe. Kersti’s main tasks are helping patients and running the daily tasks at the clinic.
