Astrid Simmermon Speech language pathologist
Astrid Simmermon graduated from Marquette University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A) with a Master of Science degree in Communicative Disorders in 1990. Astrid also received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988 in Communicative Disorders from BYU (Provo, Utah, U.S.A.), totalling 6 years of higher level education in the field. Born to parents of Estonian decent, she has recently moved to Tallinn to share her professional skills and knowledge. Prior to moving to Estonia, Astrid was working as an educational as well as medical speech language pathologist in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in private practice.
Having worked in North America for over 29 years in the field, she has developed evidence-based practices which she is now pleased to offer in Tallinn. In her service delivery, Astrid values kind, personal attention and care to clients and their families involving solutions-based approaches. She has maintained international professional development expectations and also provides workshops, handbooks, and training to parents, caregivers and allied professionals (i.e. social workers, psychologists, doctors, physical and occupational therapists, teachers, aid teacher's aides, etc.). Astrid is in the process of obtaining membership with Eesti Logopeedide Ühing.
As a speech language pathologist, Astrid Simmermon will provide family-oriented diagnostic therapy in order to improve the social and emotional aspects of communication and functioning for people with speech and language challenges and disorders including early language development in children ages birth to 7, Autism Spectrum Disorder or Asperger's, Stroke rehabilitation, as well as support for feeding and swallowing issues.
