Dr Imre Rammul Psychiatrist-sexologist
Dr. Imre Rammul has graduated from the University of Tartu, Faculty of Medicine (1986), having specialised in the field of treatments. He then went through subordination in the field of surgery (1986). In the year 1987, Dr. Rammul completed an internship at the University of Tartu Hospital for Psychiatry. Additionally, Imre has participated in numerous research conferences and congresses. He has participated in field specific training in the Ukraine, Holland, Hungary, Latvia, Israel, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway etc. Dr. Rammul has received from the Estonian Psychiatric Association the qualification in the field of psychiatry and the qualification of a clinical sexologist from the Nordic Association for Clinical Sexology (NACS certification).
Dr. Rammul has participated in the development of many legal acts in the medical field – transsexuality, Artificial Insemination and Embryo Protection Act, as well as the Termination of Pregnancy and Sterilisation Act. He has also participated in the development of the personal education curriculum for schools and field standards for clinical sexology. He has chaired the workgroup for developing the treatment guidelines for sex offenders.
Participated in sex education work and its organisation in detention institutions; conducting of psychiatric-sexological expertise for accused, as well as victims.
Since 1987, been actively involved with training of different groups in the field of psychiatry, addictology, as well as reproductive and sexual health. The activities have involved lectures for medical staff, teachers and university students.
Regularly participated in media on subjects concerning sexual health and psychiatry (more than 300 articles, television and radio appearances).
The author and co-author for many textbooks/books concerning sexual health (“Tervisekasvatus”, “Millest elab armastus”, “Seksuaalsus Eestis” etc.); translation from English (“Tervislik seks”); revision and writing of additional articles for the Estonian Encyclopaedia.
Actively been involved with the subject of telephone consultations – starting in 1988 with the operating of the Tartu helpline, later “Raviminfo/Arstiliin” (medication information/contacting the doctor) and since the year 2005 general practitioner advice line, as well as a bit later the management of different phone advice lines for children.
